Sugary Rush: Chapter 2 BANANANANA!!!

Welcome to my virtual kitchen you lovely people!!!

I know how you people are eagerly waiting for 7th, when paycheck will get credited in everyone's account. Pat your back for surviving 'end of the month crisis' like a pro. Understanding everyone's situation, I promise today's recipe will not burn a hole in anyone's pocket. It will most probably bring a smile in these 'mcdonalds econo meal seems as expensive as matsutake mushrooms days' and will add 'chaar chaand' to your tea/ coffee drinking experience.

(Not so Important Information: Matsutake mushrooms cost $1000 per kg i.e Rs 65000 per kg)

As you people already know, my thesis submissions are next week and my parents are more concerned than me. So whenever they spot me, lost in thoughts of parallel world where I manage to save Ned Stark before he is beheaded, they start chanting this word ' Bhawna, FOCUS! FOCUS! FOCUS! With the continuous chanting, this thought striked me, how we always discuss about being focused and never talk about relevance of being 'de-focused'.

So what are we talking today?

Theory of De- focus

Let's talk about an imaginary architect named 'Lizzy'. Lizzy's passion is her field 'architecture'. So she always thinks, discusses and even dreams about designs. With this dedication and 'focus', she becomes one of the top recognized architect. But will she be a happy architect? I doubt so.
Why? Because she forgot to include moments of de- focus to be focused about her passion.

What does an athlete do before her big race? Warm up. What that warm up does to her? Gently prepare her for her big race. These moments of de- focus be it talking to a friend, cooking, taking a walk, reading a book, sleeping, kicking a wall, even staring at ceiling (It is de- focus tool for some people) are not moments of escapism from reality but a kick starter which leaves us energized and in a much happier state to be focused about our passion.
(In simple words, things we do which has nothing to do with one's passion to remain passionated about one's passion. WHAAAT! From where was it simple?
Ned Stark is saved! Woohoo! In imagination though)

Highly recommended for every millennial.

What are we cooking today?
'BANANA BREAD' or should I say 'JUGAAD BANANA BREAD'

* I am not a professional chef or baker.
* I do not understand concept of dry ingredients and wet ingredients.
* I strictly believe in using less appliances (Who wants to clean all that mess later? Nobody.)

Preparation time: 20 mins
Cooking time:     5 mins
Servings              4 people

Let's get started!!!
Let's look at the ingredients first

Methodology

1. Mash bananas till they become a paste. My bananas were little tight so i ground them in mixer.

2. Take a deep bowl. Add mashed bananas to it.

3. Beat eggs nicely and add it to mashed bananas mixture.

4. Add cinnamon powder to the egg banana mixture.

5. This is healthier version, so we are adding wheat flour to the mixture. You can also use all purpose flour instead of wheat flour.

6.  Add powdered sugar and baking soda to bread mixture.

7. To the bread mixture, add a pinch of salt. Adding a little salt enhances the flavor multiple times.

8. Add ghee to it. Adding ghee or any oil makes this bread super soft and moist. Avoid adding olive oil or mustard oil to it because they have a very strong flavour.

9. Put lemon juice in this mixture. Lemon juice balances the sweetness of this bread. It also reduces the eggy smell.

10. Add milk to combine all the ingredients together.

11. This is the stage for adding walnuts/ chocochips and everything nice to the mixture. After adding roughly mix it. Do not over work it.

12. Now grease a pan with some butter/ ghee and put bread mixture to it. Microwave the mixture for 5 mins. Do the toothpick test once in between.

Best feeling when your bread rises double its size :)

  1. Nice read about the de-focussing part!

One question though - what if I beat the egg whites and yolks separately and then fold each into the mixtures. Would it make my bread even flufflier?

    Great work, mi amiga!

    1. Thanks for all appreciation.
Yes if you beat your egg whites and yolk separately, do try beating your egg whites with sugar and then folding it in the mixture. It will make your bread fluffier.
